After receiving gloomy forecasts about the expected death toll, and against the background of criticism from professional sources about the closure outline and the reliefs included in it, Netanyahu decided to tighten the restrictions • Earlier tonight he urgently summoned Prof. Gamzo for an urgent discussion • Apparently: the new restrictions - only after the holiday
Tonight (Thursday), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will submit a statement ahead of the national closure that will begin tomorrow at 2:00 PM and will continue throughout the Tishrei holidays.
The Corona commissioner, Prof. Roni Gamzo, has announced that he will not participate in the declaration as he is in solitary confinement under technically unsuitable conditions.
Netanyahu's statement comes on the eve of the closure.
Earlier tonight, the Prime Minister urgently summoned Prof. Gamzo.
A source who updated the details of the discussion with the prime minister told Israel Today that "the direction is a significant aggravation of the closure, but only after Rosh Hashanah."
General (Res.) Roni Noma, who serves as the corona commander in the ultra-Orthodox sector, also participated in the discussions.
Earlier, Prof. Gamzo issued a recorded statement in which he said that "if everyone does justice to himself, we will wreak havoc on ourselves."
The Corona commissioner acknowledged mistakes made in recent months: "We have slowly responded to the second wave. We have not formulated an overall national strategy ahead of time."
He also added that the desire to return to routine prevailed over logic, and Israel emerged from the quarantine at record speed, in an irresponsible and uncontrolled manner.
Moreover, he said, no required infrastructure was built in the first closure.
