This is how school started after the summer vacation

The second week of school under Corona hygiene measures has started.

School principals of all types of schools report an unproblematic start.

Most, however, long for the end of the mask requirement.

It should be lifted by the end of this week if the infection numbers allow.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

- The school family at the Rainer-Maria-Rilke-Gymnasium in Ickingen already got together during the summer holidays to discuss the hygiene concept prescribed by the Bavarian state government.

“In addition to the teachers, we also included parent representatives and student representatives,” says director Astrid Barbeau.

She reports that the start of school went "harmoniously and without any problems".

After the long, corona-related forced break from normal classes and after the summer holidays, the young people were really looking forward to the high school again.

Barbeau: “It was a wonderful sight for me too when they all poured in.” In the past few days, the students had behaved extremely sensibly, whether standing in line in the cafeteria with sufficient distance, wearing masks or washing their hands regularly.

Peter Wandinger, deputy headmaster of the Isar-Loisach-Realschule in Wolfratshausen, is glad that the weather played along in the first week.

As a result, the roughly 600 girls and boys split into two groups could have spent the breaks in the schoolyard.

According to the Vice-President, they should stay outside in the fresh air as much as possible in the future, because keeping their distance on the stairs and in the corridors is often not so easy.

"We have already informed the parents in a letter from parents that the children should dress warmly," says Wandinger.

Overall, he praises his protégés: The hygiene rules are implemented in an astonishingly disciplined manner by all age groups - also because most of them are probably happy about the end of the rather lonely “home schooling”.

At the Isar-Loisach-Realschule the misleading term “social distancing” was therefore also replaced by “physical distancing”.

I really admire how well the children keep the rules.

Susanne Falkenhahn, head of the Dietramszell elementary and middle school

With the Bavaria-wide mask requirement from the fifth grade, which is expected to apply until September 18, especially the younger ones have a hard time.

Susanne Falkenhahn, director of the Dietramszell elementary and middle school, reports: “Now in the second week you notice that.” Although the windows are open all the time thanks to the warm temperatures, the restricted breathing affects the concentration.

"I really admire how well the children adhere to the rules," says Falkenhahn.

What she found on Monday was that there had been a striking number of sick leave.

Parents would probably stick to the requirement that if they had the slightest cough or discomfort, they'd rather leave their offspring at home.

Primary school pupils in Bavaria do not have to wear a mouth and nose cover in class, but protection is mandatory when coming and going as well as in the corridors.

The other rules such as frequent hand washing and keeping your distance also apply to them.

Six to ten year olds tend to forget the latter.

But Monika Bauer, principal of the Isardamm elementary school, is pleasantly surprised at how well everything is going.

In elementary schools, it is important that students from different classes do not mix with each other, explains Bauer.

This is guaranteed, among other things, by class breaks.

The parents were careful with the situation, but were not over-anxious, the headmistress found.

The first day of school for the new ABC shooters, which took place in the classrooms, was harmonious and solemn in a small setting.

According to the school principals surveyed, almost all teachers at the respective schools took part in the voluntary series tests for the corona virus.

They were taken on Monday at the Ickinger Gymnasium.

"None of the participants had a positive result," says Astrid Barbeau with relief.

At the Wolfratshauser Realschule, according to Peter Wandiger, almost all teachers as well as administrative staff and caretakers also took the tests.

Some would have been examined privately.

The results would have been available before the first day of school.

“That was really quick,” says Wandinger.

As reported, an employee of the secretariat tested positive for Covid-19 at the Geretsrieder Gymnasium before school started last Tuesday.

You and three other contacts are in quarantine at home.

What it currently looks like at the grammar school could not be learned from director Christoph Strödecke on Monday.
