The Constitutional Court of Peru did not accept the precautionary measure presented by the Executive Branch that sought to prevent the debate and vote on the possible vacancy of President Martín Vizcarra from taking place on Friday in the Congress of the Republic.
Thus, the plenary session of the legislature will meet on Friday from 10 AM, Miami time, to debate the possible removal of the president.
The Executive's appeal was rejected by five votes against, while two magistrates ruled in favor of it.

However, the Constitutional Court did admit the jurisdictional claim, also presented by the Executive Power, which seeks that the highest instance of interpretation of the Constitution in Peru rule on moral incapacity as a cause of vacancy and clarify in what circumstances it can be applied .
This cause is the one that has been invoked by the parliament to dismiss President Martín Vizcarra.
The jurisdictional claim was admitted by six votes in favor and one against.
President Martín Vizcarra may attend Friday's session in the Legislative Power to exercise his defense, however, according to the Political Constitution, the head of state is not obliged to do so, and instead, his lawyer or both may attend. .
