Hustle and bustle at the FOS / BOS Erding: A schoolgirl tested positive for Corona.

Even though she had shown symptoms, she went to school before receiving her result.

Erding

- Corona has put the FOS / BOS Erding in a state of emergency.

As reported yesterday, a schoolgirl was infected with the virus.

A complete twelfth FOS class and thus 32 students are now in quarantine.

But what mainly causes a lack of understanding: According to the headmaster Jens Baumgärtel, the student had shown symptoms and had herself tested, but had come to class - without waiting for the results.

She then received the positive result during class on Tuesday.

Parents, students and teachers have been informed in detail about the hygiene plan at the school.

In addition, the first parents' letter of the school year was published during the holidays, says Baumgärtel.

The letter states how to proceed with suspected or confirmed cases.

It expressly states: "The classroom lesson may only be attended again if a written negative test result is presented to the class leader and there are no more symptoms."

The student, whose gender Baumgärtel does not want to confirm, but is known to our newspaper, went to the doctor on Friday and had herself tested the next day.

However, the class management was not informed that the student had not voluntarily quarantined.

Baumgärtel also announced that the doctor did not necessarily initially associate the symptoms shown with corona.

The headmaster emphasizes that the pupil was not infected at the FOS / BOS, but probably in her free time while doing a casual job outside the district.

When the result arrived on Tuesday during class, the school was informed.

“We immediately contacted the health department,” reports Baumgärtel.

All classmates in the class are now quarantined at home for two weeks.

To be on the safe side, there would also be eight other direct neighbors from cross-class elective subjects.

According to the district office, they should all be tested on Wednesday.

Baumgärtel estimates that they will even take swabs twice during the quarantine.

"We hope that no further cases will be confirmed," says the FOS / BOS head.

He thinks: "It was the right decision to leave the school open."

According to Baumgärtel, one difficulty is that the school is not only attended from the Erding district, but also has many students from Ebersberg and Munich.

The last parents should be informed of the incident on Wednesday.

The sick student lives in the district of Erding.

Baumgärtel says his school is even more strict with the Corona issue than the Ministry of Culture.

The current situation makes him all the more stunned: “You should definitely stay at home if you have symptoms.

Better not to have lessons for two days than now, ”he emphasizes.

The class was lucky that on Monday they received an introduction to Microsoft's “Teams” program, which can be used in everyday digital school life, among other things.

The access data for it were also released on Monday.

So now homeschooling is back in fashion for the class.

The first video conference took place on Wednesday.

As our newspaper learned, students and parents are annoyed by the irresponsibility.

On the one hand there is the return to homeschooling, in which some learning content may fall by the wayside.

On the other hand, the twelfth graders are currently working towards their graduation.

Does the student expect a punishment now?

According to district office spokeswoman Daniela Fritzen, that depends largely on how well she was informed by the doctor who took the smear.

“Depending on this, the initiation of administrative offense proceedings will be examined,” says Fritzen.

The student had been tested by the on-call service of the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KVB) due to flu-like symptoms.

The general hygiene plan of the Bavarian Ministry of Culture applies to secondary schools.

“The schools are also obliged to develop a protection and hygiene concept on this basis.

In addition, the schools have house rules and can issue further regulations, ”Fritzen said.
