An earthquake measuring 5.8 degrees on the Richter scale today hit the northern coast of Egypt and was felt by the residents of Alexandria.
The seventh day website quoted the head of the Egyptian National Institute for Astronomical Research of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, Gad Muhammad Al-Qadi, as saying that the center of the earthquake is located on the island of Crete at a depth of 40 km and that there were no reports of any injuries or loss of life and property as a result of it.
The Athens Geodynamics Institute in Greece announced earlier today that a strong tremor, with a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale, struck the island of Crete in southern Greece, without immediate reports of injuries or damage.
