(CNN Spanish) ––

At this time, there are no guarantees of legitimacy for the legislative elections in Venezuela, concluded the member countries of the International Contact Group.

The elections are scheduled for December 6.

In a statement, the group said that in Venezuela "the conditions for a transparent, inclusive, free and fair electoral process are not met."

The association had a virtual meeting this Thursday.

There they asked that guarantees be provided for the elections in Venezuela, in accordance with international standards and the Constitution.

In addition, they called on all parties to commit to an inclusive and credible negotiation.

The president of the National Assembly, Juan Guaidó, celebrated the pronouncement of the International Contact Group and especially the demand for free elections in Venezuela.

In a statement he reiterated his rejection of the December elections, calling them a "parliamentary fraud."

For his part, the questioned President Nicolás Maduro said on Thursday that he recommends that the European Union rectify its decision, think it over and stop following Donald Trump's script.

He added that in his opinion it is important to comply with electoral guarantees so that transparent elections are held.

So far, the president has not responded directly to the findings of the International Contact Group.
