The ice hockey top division wanted answers, concrete facts and data that they could use for orientation.

Some have now received them.

Among other things, the German Ice Hockey Federation has postponed the start of the season for the major leagues.

But there are still various questions unanswered.

  • DEB is postponing the start of the season from October 16 to November 6

  • 75 percent of the league clubs vote for this date

  • SC Riessersee returns to the ice on October 1st

October 16, this was the old deadline.

November 6th, this is the new day of the days.

Then ice hockey should be possible again in the major leagues.

This was decided by the DEB on Thursday afternoon in a video conference with the upper division of the North and South seasons.

In a previous online survey, 75 percent of the league clubs, including SC Riessersee, voted for November 6th.

"We have all discussed constructively in the past weeks and months and in today's meeting we have jointly found a way that can be represented with a different start date," emphasizes DEB Sports Director Stefan Schaidnagel.

Pana Christakakis, Managing Director of the SCR, can only agree: “It makes sense that we have now postponed the start.

October 16 would no longer have been feasible. ”The other 25 percent of the clubs had voted for November 13.

However, this date did not meet with the greatest approval, as the league could face deadlines.

“We can't just postpone the season at will.

We have to be ready by the end of April because then we will run out of ice in the stadiums, ”explains Christakakis.

Another reason is that the top division clubs want to give themselves a certain amount of leeway in terms of catching up games.

"I would like to play every game, even if one has to be postponed due to a corona case."

The schedule should be fixed at the beginning of October

However, the postponed start date is so far the only concrete fact that the top division clubs can cling to.

The game plan, fans, compensation in the event of absence of spectators - these points still contain many questions.

A new game plan will be designed in the coming days and will be published in early October.

After the conference with the DEB, the southern upper division met again.

The game mode should continue to include the dovetailing with the Bayern League.

It is still unclear when the teams from the northern season will be promoted to DEL2.

“Maybe we'll just play one final against the north,” says Christakakis.

Riessersee is planning to start selling season tickets

As soon as the game plan is ready, SC Riessersee wants to start selling season tickets.

How many spectators can then be there live at the first home appearance in the Olympic Ice Sports Center is also questionable.

The prime ministers agreed on Tuesday on a maximum capacity of 20 percent - a six-week test run.

The regulation is valid until the end of October and can therefore still be changed.

So far, guest fans have been left out, the entire contingent is reserved for domestic fans.

Managing director directs open questions to the health department

In addition, there are still a few question marks at Christakakis in terms of the hygiene concept, which every association must coordinate with the local health department.

"I have already sent our revised concept and my questions to the health department," says the SCR managing director.

In the coming week he hopes to get answers at an appointment with the authorities.

The squad is to be increased

In a good two weeks, SCR coach George Kink will be back on the ice with his men, then the traditional club will start preparing.

How big the squad will be: wait and see.

“It is possible that something is still going on.

With 13 players we definitely won't get very far. ”Christakakis speaks of two players that he still needs, preferably three.

But first he wants more answers.
