An edition in September, what does that change?
As in 1968, due to the strikes, the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place in September.
A move in the calendar which is important since three months after the initial date, the race conditions promise to be different.
As the nights are longer now, the dark period will be reduced from approximately 8 hours to 12 hours.
An extension which will impose additional visual fatigue on the pilots and will require extra concentration.
Important information: the rain will invite itself throughout the weekend with showers expected Saturday and Sunday.
What to spice up the fight.

La der d'Alpine before the big world
At the lower level (LMP2) we will obviously follow with great interest the Alpine team in the middle of a pack of 24 crews.
The northern manufacturer will want to leave the second Endurance division in style before attempting the LMP1 adventure next year against the giant Toyota (see below).
Finally, in the GT category, the battle will rage between three manufacturers: Ferrari will enter four cars, Porsche and Aston Martin two.

Toyota for the hat-trick
Untouchable in 2018 and 2019, the Toyotas are shaping up to be the big favorites of the 2020 edition in the face of sparse competition and only made up of private teams in the premier class (LMP1).
This has only five crews.
A minimum.
The organizers have put in place a performance balance that should make it possible to balance as much as possible the performance potential of hybrid technology cars (like the Toyota) and non-hybrid cars that make up this category.
This expected tightening of times between the Japanese cars and its rivals could be favorable to the best private team of recent years, Rebellion Racing, in an outsider position.

On the way to an unprecedented edition
For the second time in their rich history after 1968, the 24 Hours of Le Mans was moved from June to September due to the health crisis.
Often presented as the most popular car race in the world with spectators from all over the world, the Manceau meeting is being held this year behind closed doors, Covid-19 requires.
Admittedly, the atmosphere is quite foreign on the Circuit de la Sarthe.
Rather gloomy atmosphere one hour before the start in front of empty stands.
