The Penzberg city library has an alternative ready - its own reading festival at the beginning of October.

Penzberg - The Penzberg “StadtLesen” festival has been canceled.

The organizer, the “Innovationswerkstatt” from Salzburg, has canceled all other festivals across Germany due to the current Corona situation.

The Penzberg city library had already feared this, but trembled to the last.

This week library manager Katrin Fügener received the rejection.

However, as reported, the Penzberg city library team had been working on their own reading festival in the past few weeks - in the event of cancellation.

That means: Instead of the “StadtLesen” festival, there is now the “Sta (d) tt reading festival with living room” from October 1st to 4th.

Three readings and a party - only without seat cushions on the town square

The only big difference is that there will be no cushions or bookshelves on the town square on the days, according to the library manager Fügener.

However, there will be three readings in the city library and a reading festival in the Rathauspassage.

“We are proud to have set up something like this so quickly in order to be able to convey joy in reading,” said Fügener on Friday about the alternative.

The program planned for schools, for example a “book casting”, would also be held on Thursday and Friday.

The “Sta (d) tt Reading Festival” is planned primarily in the city library itself. However, if the weather permits, the team will switch to the readings on the city square between the library and the Rathauspassage.

Because of the current Corona regulations, the library has to work with registrations, according to Fügener.

The free reservation cards for the readings must be collected from the library.

If the readings take place outdoors, there should also be an “evening box office”, according to Fügener.

The project "wohnZimmer Rathauspassage "will be presented at the reading festival

At the newly designed reading festival on Sunday, the library also wants to use the opportunity to present the project “wohnZimmer Rathauspassage”.

Behind it is a collection of ideas for a town house.

There should be a public survey at the weekly market on Thursday, October 1st.

On Sunday, October 4th, the project will be presented in the Rathauspassage with expert discussions.

The originally planned “StadtLesen” festival should have taken place in Penzberg for the second time this year.

258 cities had applied.

Penzberg was one of the 27 municipalities in German-speaking countries that were awarded the contract.

Because of the corona pandemic, there had not been a single festival in Germany this year.

Penzberg would have been the first place where it took place - until it was canceled this week.

The alternative: The program of the "Sta (d) tt Reading Festival"

Thursday, October 1st: Reading with Klaus Modick from 6.30 p.m. in the city library.

Modick is an award-winning writer and recently received the Hannelore Greve Prize.

In his book “Keyserling's Secret” he deals with the art scene at the beginning of the 20th century.

It mostly takes place on Lake Starnberg, in Bernried and Feldafing.

(Admission free, but with a personal appointment in the city library) When the weather is nice, the reading is on the city square between the library and the Rathauspassage (in this case also at the box office).

Friday, October 2nd: Poetry slam with Reimrausch and the Penzberg band Taktios from 7 p.m. in the city library.

Anyone interested can take part in the poets' dispute: If you want to present texts yourself, send an email to buecherei@penzberg.de (admission free, but with a personal appointment in the city library).

When the weather is nice, the reading is on the town square between the library and Rathauspassage (in this case also at the box office).

Saturday, October 3rd: Reading with Thekla Kraußeneck from 7 p.m. in the city library.

The fantasy author reads from her debut novel "Cronos Cube" (free admission, but with a personal reservation in the city library).

When the weather is nice, the reading is on the town square between the library and Rathauspassage (in this case also at the box office).

Sunday, October 4th: "Sta (d) tt reading festival with living room" from 1 pm to 5 pm in the Rathauspassage: large book flea market (sellers must report to the city library by October 1), open city library, Onilo picture book cinema , Magic, coffee and cake.

The project "wohnZimmer Rathauspassage "will also be presented with display walls, expert discussions and the opportunity to participate.

Visitors do not have to register.
