Whether on the construction site, in the hairdressing salon or in the bakery: Fewer and fewer young people are choosing a trade.

Nevertheless, there are still apprentices who consciously choose such a job.

For the Day of Crafts, we take a look at local businesses.

  • Craft businesses are finding it increasingly difficult to find motivated apprentices.

  • On the Day of Crafts, trainees from the district report what drives them every day.

  • Young people cannot imagine a better job.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - mothers are always right.

In the meantime, hairdressing apprentice Darline Weiß knows that too.

“My mom told me for a long time that I should learn to be a hairdresser.

I would definitely like that, ”recalls the 22-year-old.

A good piece of advice: Weiss is now in his third year of training at the Ickingen hairdressing salon “Alpenföhn und Isarwelle”.

“I can't imagine any other job,” enthuses the Geretsriederin.

Above all, she has a lot of fun coloring her customers' hair.

For Weiß, direct customer feedback is very important in her job.

"When I cut people's hair and they feel really good again afterwards - that's just a great feeling and motivates me again and again."

A moment that Weiß will never forget: When she was allowed to do the hair of a bride in a dirndl and put on make-up.

“We covered all the mirrors in the salon so that the customer couldn't see each other,” recalls the 22-year-old.

When the work was finished and the future wife looked at herself in the mirror, her eyes began to shine.

“At that moment we were both about to cry,” admits the trainee - and grins.

The young woman has not yet forged any concrete plans for the future.

At some point the Geretsriederin would like to make her master.

"Maybe I'll also go to cosmetology school." However, there is one thing she already knows today: "I like to cut hair forever."

I can’t imagine any other profession.

Joshua Di Marcoberardino's workplace is lofty: after graduating from high school, the 20-year-old began an apprenticeship as a carpenter two years ago.

In Jachenau, in the Jakob Kohlhauf junior carpentry workshop, the man from Greilingen not only builds roof trusses, but also entire wooden houses.

“Here I can use my physical strength effectively.

In addition, at the end of the day I can see exactly what I have created with my hands, ”he explains his career choice.

Of course, working as a carpenter is not entirely safe.

“You always have to keep your eyes open.

You never know what's coming.

But that makes every day a bit of an adventure. ”At 6 o'clock in the morning, the Greilinger goes to the construction site every day.

“I enjoy my work so much, time goes by extremely quickly.” But even if the job is well paid, the 20-year-old is aware: “You can't do this forever.

The body doesn't play along for long. ”That's why he wants to study architecture later.

A good 40 kilometers further north, specifically in Geretsried, Regina Frech (22) is doing an apprenticeship as a florist.

The woman from Beuerberg already completed an internship with a florist in Bad Heilbrunn during her school days.

“I really liked that back then.” Nevertheless, Frech initially began training as a butcher shop saleswoman.

"Here, too, I liked the more creative things the most, such as laying sausage platters," says the 22-year-old.

“But somehow the job was never really mine.” The woman from Beuerberg remembered her student internship - and applied without further ado to “Stroblume”.

As a florist, I can fully develop my creativity.

Whether cutting flowers and keeping them fresh or making wreaths and bouquets: "As a florist, I can fully develop my creativity," says Frech with satisfaction.

The trainee particularly fondly remembers one day in May: For the very first time, she was allowed to make a wedding bouquet from peonies, star umbels, polyanthine roses and gypsophila.

“Everything worked right away, that made me pretty happy.” The woman from Beuerberg is well aware that she doesn't expect the best pay in her job.

“But I always say to myself: I work 40 hours a week, that's an awfully long time.

It is much more important when you enjoy your work. "
