Two people were killed and at least 14 others were injured in a mass shooting at a party in a courtyard in Rochester, New York.
According to local police, the shooting occurred shortly after midnight on Pennsylvania Avenue in the city.
A suspect in the act has not yet been identified.
The names of the dead have not yet been released but they are two young men, a man and a woman, in their twenties. "This is a tragedy," Rochester interim police chief Mark Simmons said during a news conference.
Simmons further said that the injured were taken to hospitals and that they are not suffering from life-threatening injuries.
"The shooting sounds like the Vietnam War," an eyewitness to the shooting told ABC News.
As for the pursuit of a suspect, police said they are still collecting witness testimony to get more information about the shooting and learn more about the suspect or suspects.
When police arrived at the scene, officers saw about 100 people running in the mountain scene.
According to police, two people who fled the scene were also injured.
"This tragic act of violence has affected the lives of many people and their families," the mayor of Rochester said.
"I beg everyone to remain calm and exercise restraint as the police investigate what happened here and look for those responsible."
