A new earthquake of 5.1 magnitude hits central Turkey

Ankara-SANA, a new earthquake measuring 5.1 degrees on the Richter scale this evening struck the Negde region in Turkey.

A new earthquake measuring 5.1 degrees on the Richter scale this evening hit the Nigde region, central Turkey, after 14 earthquakes of varying intensity were recorded in different parts of the country during the past twenty-four hours.

The Anatolia News Agency quoted the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Agency as saying in a statement that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of seven kilometers under the surface of the earth, without indicating any injuries or damage.

The administration announced earlier today that 14 earthquakes had been recorded in Malatya province, eastern Turkey, during the past 24 hours, and said in a statement that the tremors occurred in Hakimhan and Putorj in Malatya from yesterday noon until today.

She explained that the strongest tremors, with a magnitude of 3.8 degrees on the Richter scale, occurred in the morning.

And an earthquake measuring 4.5 degrees hit the Hakim Khan area, Malatya state, the day before yesterday, without any losses.
