Tonight (Sunday), vehicles rushed at protesters near the prime minister's residence on Balfour Street in Jerusalem, endangering police and civilians.

Police forces arrested the driver of the vehicle and took him for questioning.

Protesters at the scene claimed it was an attempted run-over, but this has not yet been clarified.

Police said they had clearly opened up about the circumstances of the incident.

There were no casualties.

"A few minutes ago, police forces operating on King George Street arrested a suspect who arrived quickly with a vehicle toward police checkpoints and posed a danger to protesters and police," the police statement said.

"The said suspect was arrested and taken for police investigation."

The driver of the vehicle braked at the last minute, before hitting someone.
