London - Sana

Britain, France and Germany have renewed their commitment to the nuclear agreement with Iran, stressing that Iran's exemption from international sanctions under this agreement signed in 2015 will continue and that any measure to re-impose these sanctions by the United States will be illegal.

A joint statement by the foreign ministries of the three countries quoted by Euronews said that the UN sanctions that the United States announced imposing on Iran could not have any significant legal effects that the United States is no longer participating in the comprehensive nuclear agreement after its withdrawal from it on May 8, 2018. Therefore, implementing the decision under

Paragraph 11 of the agreement and activating the controversial "Snapback" mechanism could not have any legal effects.

The three countries stressed that they are still "committed to fully implementing the Security Council resolution by which the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan was approved in 2015," and they said, "We have worked tirelessly to preserve the nuclear agreement and we remain committed to doing so."

For his part, Josep Borrell, the European Union's foreign policy chief, said in a statement that the United States could not re-impose international sanctions against Iran due to unilaterally ending its participation in the nuclear deal.

Borrell called on everyone to mobilize their efforts to preserve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and to refrain from actions that would constitute an escalation.

In May 2018, US President Donald Trump announced his country's withdrawal from the nuclear agreement signed between Iran and the P5 + 1 group in 2015, and the reinstatement of sanctions against Tehran, despite the European Union's opposition to that.
