Honduran President Juan Orlando announced tonight (Sunday) that his country is in talks with Israel to move its embassy to Jerusalem, while at the same time Israel is expected to open an embassy in the state capital, Tegucigalpa.
This, more than 20 years after it closed the Israeli embassy there due to budgetary reasons.
"I spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to strengthen our strategic partnership and discuss the opening of embassies in Jerusalem and Tegucigalpa," Orlando wrote on his Twitter account.
"We hope to make this historic move by the end of the year, as long as the epidemic allows."
