Honduras announced tonight (Sunday) that it has finally decided to move its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem by the end of the year, Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez said in a tweet posted on his Twitter account.
He said that after talking to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel would fulfill its commitment and reopen its embassy in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras.
The agreement in principle on the transfer of the embassy was reached by the Israeli ambassador to Guatemala, Matti Cohen, who is also trained in Honduras.
Following the agreement, President Hernandez announced about two years ago that he recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
However, the political developments in Israel, which led, among other things, to difficulties in working at the Foreign Ministry, were one of the reasons for the delay in the process.
The embassies in Tegucigalpa and Jersusalén reaffirm that one in Honduras and Israel.
For our people there will be benefits in education, technology, agriculture, water projects, tourism and investment.
Congratulations to the Judio people in celebrating Rosh Hashaná.
