The city of Tulkarm in the West Bank today witnessed a stand in solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners who are being subjected to violations by the Israeli occupation authorities in his detention centers, especially the sick and those on hunger strike.

According to the Wafa Agency, the participants in the stand in front of the Red Cross office stressed the need to continue supporting the prisoners and solidarity with them in light of the violations and brutal practices they are exposed to by the occupation authorities amid deliberate medical negligence against them.

The director of the Prisoner's Club office in Tulkarm, Ibrahim Al-Nimr, confirmed that today's stand is in support of the prisoners, specifically the elderly prisoner Khairy Hanoun, who was arrested by the occupation forces yesterday from his home in the town of Anabta, east of Tulkarm, and put him in harsh detention conditions.

Al-Nimr warned of the deterioration of the health status of the sick prisoners and the hunger strikers, especially Maher Al-Akhras and Abdel-Rahman Shuaibat, who have been on strike for 40 days and are living in very difficult conditions, stressing the need for international human rights and humanitarian institutions, chiefly the International Red Cross, to assume their responsibilities and to pressure the occupation authorities to stop their violations of the right of the prisoners and the urgent release The sick, the elderly, women and children whose lives are now threatened.

About five thousand Palestinian prisoners inside the Israeli occupation prisons face harsh detention conditions, as 1,800 prisoners suffer from multiple diseases due to the spread of epidemics and germs, and among them about 700 prisoners need urgent treatment, especially cases of cancer, kidney failure and paraplegia.
