Various works and different musical styles mixed with a professional academic character were presented by the Cham Rhythmic Orchestra led by musician Ali Ahmed during the musical evening hosted by the Drama Theater at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts.

The exceptional and unique situation that the Cham Rhythmic Orchestra seeks to consecrate in the musical scene, through which it reflected the distinguished artistic value during the evening today through the solo performance, composition and music distribution that came with the imprint of Syrian musicians, as well as accompanying visual videos that simulate the most important musical groups in the world.

The evening program included a bouquet of musical works from various styles of Latin, African, jazz, Arabic, rock, and the show, with the participation of musician Kamal Skeiker on the Oud, who presented a new piece of his composition entitled “Matar” especially for the Cham Orchestra, and the participation of the musician Faris Al Dahan also on the drum instrument.

Musician Ahmed stated in a statement to SANA that the Cham Rhythm Orchestra was born during the war years to be one of the unique orchestras in Syria, pointing out that since its inception at the end of 2013, it has included six musicians, to reach today about 25 academic and professional percussionists among professors. Graduates and students of the Higher Institute of Music seek to spread the concept of academic and professional rhythm through the various rhythmic acts they present.

Ahmed explained that the orchestra has its own musical works, which is an added value for its academic work, especially as it is one of the rare Arab rhythmic groups that have been able to approach eastern Arab music in an orchestral form and to make a continuous cumulative work within the reach of generations.

Regarding the percussion instruments that the group plays by Ahmad, they are divided into two types, melodic instruments, which are large instruments that require muscular effort and auditory focus for their players, and are distinguished by their ability to mix between the broad and thin voices, while the small instruments are not melodic.

The Cham Rhythm Orchestra participated in a number of concerts in the temporary accommodation centers as part of the Psychological Support Project for Children during 2015 and revived the Childhood Festival in Damascus Castle in 2014 and its first appearance was on the Dar Al-Assad Theater for Culture and Arts in March 2016.

The player Ali Ahmed holds a master's degree in musical education from Damascus University and a degree in music from the Higher Institute of Music, specializing in “rhythm. Arabic and Orpheus Orchestra.
