We are very worried about the state of health of Nasrin Sotoudeh.

She was condemned (...) for having done her job as a lawyer,

”Jean-Yves Le Drian declared to the National Assembly, during the questioning session to the government.

"

The President of the Republic, at each meeting with the Iranian authorities, myself at my level, we recall our desire to see Nasrin Sotoudeh released

".

Ms. Sotoudeh, 57, has been on hunger strike for more than 40 days according to her husband, to denounce the conditions of incarceration of political prisoners and their blocked judicial horizon, while the Covid-19 is wreaking havoc in Iran and more more in his prisons.

She was transferred last week to a cardiology ward shortly after being admitted to the emergency room at Taleghani Hospital in Tehran.

Mr. le Drian recalled that the lawyer had received the Franco-German prize for human rights and had been appointed "

member of the Council for equality between women and men within the framework of the French presidency of the G7

”.

He also recalled the case of the Franco-Iranian researcher Fariba Adelkhah, detained for a year in Tehran, and whose sentence "

purely political and arbitrary

" is, according to him, "

based on no serious element

".

Jean-Yves Le Drian reaffirmed France's desire to mobilize for the researcher "

and on the worsening of the human rights situation in Iran, in part following the demonstrations of November 2019

".
