British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced today that it will take a package of new measures to confront the emerging corona virus, after the number of infections with it in Britain has increased and doctors' warnings that the situation is getting out of control.
Reuters quoted Johnson as saying before the British House of Commons that "the government will extend the law on wearing protective masks and banning large gatherings," noting that the strict measures imposed on businesses and individuals in order to limit the spread of Corona could continue for another six months.
Yesterday, the British government raised the level of alert related to the Coronavirus, with senior health advisers warning that the country would witness 50 thousand infections per day in the middle of next month and that deaths would increase if no immediate measures were taken.
In recent weeks, Britain has witnessed new sharp increases in the daily infection index, and yesterday announced the registration of 4,422 new infections, in a new record high of daily cases since the eighth of last May.
