New York-SANA, Russian President Vladimir Putin assured that his country will make all possible efforts to support a solution to lesser crises

New York-Sana

Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that his country will make all possible efforts to support resolving regional crises through dialogue, stressing the need for the UN Security Council to fully take into account the interests of all countries and for the United Nations Charter to remain the main source of international law.

Putin said during a speech today via video to the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly that Russia will make all possible efforts to contribute to the peaceful settlement of regional crises through political and diplomatic means and in order to ensure strategic stability, stressing the need to move away from duplication and not to interfere in the affairs of states and the right of peoples to self-determination. And focus on the political solution to differences and crises.

Putin explained that the five permanent members reflect the current international balance of power and represent the important mechanism in the work of the UN Security Council, which should not allow the adoption of unilateral measures by any party that lead to the occurrence of military conflicts between countries.

Putin said that Moscow's proposal to create "green corridors" for trade that would be free of wars and trade sanctions has now become of special importance, especially the mutual supplies of medicines, food, equipment and technology in light of the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.

The Russian president indicated that clearing and liberalizing global trade from barriers, embargoes, restrictions and illegal sanctions could well help restore global growth and reduce unemployment, which requires that countries not act at present according to the principle of "everyone works for himself" because the crisis will inevitably leave its mark on global development for a long time.

Putin stressed the need to prohibit restrictions on goods and financial transactions against the background of the new Corona epidemic because it is a humanitarian issue, especially for the countries most suffering from the epidemic, pointing out that this issue in the end is an issue related to people's lives. “We need to clean these issues from all political pirates.”

On the Treaty on the Limitation of Strategic Offensive Weapons between Russia and the United States of America, Putin clarified that his country will take a constructive initiative to unify the position in the field of arms control and strengthen the current system of agreements on this issue, noting that this also relates to the ban on chemical, biological and toxic weapons.

Putin pointed out that Russia is presenting an initiative stipulating the signing of an agreement that includes all space powers and legally requires a ban on the deployment of weapons in space and the use of force or the threat to use them against space targets.
