"The instrumentation will be positioned in the north and south, saving transportation time that makes it difficult to amputate the contagion chain," said the senior officer, who admitted that his diagnostic mechanism is less accurate compared to existing alternatives, "but in reasonable risk management it will help us greatly," he explained.

"It is being deployed at airports around the world and MDA is already using it."

Regarding the flu, the senior officer clarified that there is no intention to force soldiers to get vaccinated, and that only those who want to do so will do so. The IDF does not meet the flu vaccine target set by Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, which ordered a procurement that will allow vaccinations for all soldiers in the army. According to the source, due to the high demand in the world for vaccines in the coming winter, the required amount will not reach early winter.

A phenomenon of hiding symptoms

The senior officer claimed that there was a phenomenon in the IDF in which soldiers hid symptoms of coronary heart disease, and did not report them.

"Hiding creates damage and makes it difficult to cut the chain of infection. We deal with it through information. Everyone needs to be involved in the effort. It is of great importance," he stressed.

The officer added that the second military facility for the absorption of soldiers infected in Corona in Givat Olga will open tomorrow, joining the facility in Ashkelon.

The facility is ready to accommodate hundreds of soldiers if necessary, and at this stage there are no preparations for the opening of a third facility.

Regarding the establishment of a field hospital to alleviate the burden on the corona wards, it is still unclear when it will be established and where.

In addition, it was decided not to recruit doctors or nurses as part of the deployment, so as not to impair the functioning of the civilian health system.

"A field hospital will be operated as part of preparations for an extreme scenario of significant inadequacy in the hospitals' ability to care for sick civilians," the senior officer stressed.
