Despite a history of asthma, upper respiratory infections and pneumonia, her sisters shared with CNN affiliate KHOU that going to work was "what (Adeline) wanted to do."

"She wanted to get out of bed every morning, bring children into the world and help women," Maureen Fagan told KHOU.

It felt good

Adeline Fagan arrived on the morning of July 8 feeling good and "excited to see patients," but on the night of her 12-hour shift, she began to feel "bad," the initial post on her GoFundMe page read.

His symptoms were mostly severe, flu-like, escalating within a week to hospitalization.

He spent weeks in the hospital battling COVID-19, given several different respiratory therapies, and administered dozens of medications, none of which responded positively.

On August 3, before entering a trial of an experimental drug, Adeline had to be intubated and placed on a ventilator because her lungs could no longer support her, says the GoFundMe post.

On August 4, she was placed on ECMO, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, to oxygenate her blood while the ventilator opened her lungs using positive pressure.

Fagan's family projected on the GoFundMe page that he would be on ventilator and ECMO for six to eight weeks in the hopes that his lungs would heal on its own.

Fagan did not survive.

She was 28, according to her sister, Maureen Fagan.
