A lawyer for the social activist, who is accused of spray-painting graffiti on the walls of EU offices together with two other suspects, claimed that in 16 similar past cases the cases were closed.

The trial of social activist Shefi Paz began this morning (Wednesday) in the Magistrate's Court in Tel Aviv.
The three's attorney said in court that the defendants read the indictment and understood its contents and argued for selective enforcement: "In 16 similar cases, investigations were closed and no indictments were filed against those suspects for the exact same offenses."
He said, "These are cases that were documented by those suspects, they uploaded the execution and documentation on social media and everything was visible and still the case was closed."
The prosecution representative said on the other hand: "I repeat the ruling approach that even if there are a number of cases it is not enough. There is a difference between selective enforcement and partial enforcement."
"Even if my friend proves that this is the 16th case in which no indictment has been filed, he still does not meet the initial burden of proving that there was selective enforcement."
