Aeronautics and aviation: more than 30,000 jobs threatened
Hard hit by the Covid-19 crisis, the aeronautics industry is increasing employment protection plans (PSE).
They threaten some 25,000 jobs, out of a total of 300,000 direct jobs in France.
The first region to be affected, Occitania, which has 27 PSEs, including 20 in Haute-Garonne, where Airbus' industrial HQ is located.
The aircraft manufacturer, which has decided to reduce its production by 40% for two years, in order to adapt to the drop in demand for new aircraft, plans to cut 15,000 jobs, including 5,000 in France (including 3,600 in Toulouse).
Airbus' decision is reflected in the ecosystem of subcontractors which, in turn, downsizes.
The equipment manufacturer Daher has announced the elimination of up to 1,300 jobs;
Figeac Aero with 350 out of 966 workstations in its Lot plant;
Derichebourg of 700 people out of 1,700 ... Most companies, Airbus in the lead, hope to reduce social damage thanks to the public support plan
