Al-Sisi: The need to push for a political solution to the crisis in Syria in a way that preserves its unity and integrity of its institutions and ensures the complete elimination of terrorism

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that advancing a comprehensive political solution to the crisis in Syria has become an urgent matter that the international community must take into account.

During his videoconference at the seventy-fifth session of the United Nations General Assembly, El-Sisi stressed that the political solution must guarantee the unity of Syria, its territorial integrity, the integrity of its institutions and the aspirations of its people, and the complete elimination of terrorism.

Al-Sisi said that it is no longer acceptable to remain binding Security Council resolutions in the field of combating terrorism, which provide the necessary legal framework to address this deadly epidemic without effective implementation and full commitment on the part of some countries that think they will not fall under penalty of accountability for political reasons ... and it is regrettable that it continues The international community turns a blind eye to the support of a handful of countries for terrorists, whether with money and weapons, or by providing safe havens and media and political platforms, and even facilitating the movement of terrorists to conflict and war zones, especially to Libya and Syria before them.

Al-Sisi pointed out that Egypt adheres to the path of political settlement in Libya led by the United Nations on the basis of the political agreement signed in Skhirat and the outcomes of the Berlin Conference and the Cairo Declaration, pointing out that the repercussions of the Libyan crisis are not limited to inside Libya, but affect the security of neighboring countries and international stability, and “Egypt is determined to support Libyan brothers to rid their country of terrorist organizations and militias and stop the blatant interference of some regional parties that have deliberately brought foreign fighters to Libya to achieve known ambitions and colonial illusions that are out of date.

"If we really seek the implementation of international decisions and the achievement of lasting peace and security in the Middle East region, then it is not more deserving of attention than the issue of Palestine, whose people are still looking for the most basic human rights, which is to live in their independent state," noting that reaching this right has exhausted generations and exhausted many Decisions have become so burdensome to the human conscience, and there is no way to get rid of this burden and open the horizons of peace, cooperation and coexistence except by realizing the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital so that peace and security prevail for all peoples of the region.
