Juliette Gréco died on Wednesday at the age of 93 in her home in Ramatuelle in southern France.
The family confirmed the
death to
the AFP news agency.
Gréco was an icon of French chanson
and sang in a league with Édith Piaf and Barbara, who are also dead.
Liesbeth List was also a grande dame of chanson in the Netherlands.
She died after a long illness.
Gréco
became world famous in the 1950s and 60s with songs such as "Sous le ciel de Paris", "L'accordeon", "La Javanaise" and "Deshabillez-moi".

At the end of the 1940s, “Si tu t'imagines” or “L'Éternel féminin” were among their greatest hits.
