Today, the elected President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was sworn in as the country's president for a sixth term.
The Belta news agency reported that Lukashenko was sworn in at a ceremony at the Independence Palace in Minsk, after which he signed the swearing-in document.
According to the agency, several hundreds of people were invited to attend the inauguration ceremony, including senior officials, members of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic, heads of state bodies and institutions, local executive and administrative bodies, the media, scholars, cultural and sports personalities.
Lukashenko won the elections that took place on August 9, after receiving 80.1 percent of the vote.
