Negotiations in recent days in Abu Dhabi between the United States and Sudan on a normalization agreement with Israel have ended without a breakthrough.

Sources involved in the contents of the talks told Walla!

NEWS that the bulk of the dispute between the parties is over the scope of the economic aid package the United States will provide to Sudan as part of the normalization process.

The talks in Abu Dhabi, whose existence was first revealed in Walla!

NEWS, lasted three days.

UAE National Security Adviser Tahanun Ben-Zayed mediates between a delegation of senior White House officials and a delegation led by the chairman of the Sudanese Provisional Sovereignty Council, General 'Abd al-Fatah al-Burhan.

According to sources in the talks, during the negotiations in Abu Dhabi, the Sudanese presented a series of economic demands in exchange for normalization with Israel.

The Sudanese wanted to immediately receive at least $ 3 billion in aid from the Americans and a commitment to further aid in the future.

The Americans agreed in principle to provide Sudan with economic assistance but not to the extent requested by the Sudanese.

This afternoon, al-Burhan returned to Sudan and issued a statement confirming for the first time that talks with the Americans dealt with normalization with Israel.

Al-Burhan said the talks were "helpful" but did not clarify whether there had been any progress or not.

According to al-Burhan, the Sudanese delegation is discussing with the American one "the future of the Arab-Israeli peace process and the role that Sudan can play in achieving peace in the Middle East."

He added that Sudan had made it clear to the Americans that peace in the region must preserve the rights of the Palestinians and grant them an independent state.
