A title for excellence in kickboxing, carried by the player Rawad Zaher Al-Taqi from the As-Suwayda governorate, who won many local and foreign tournaments in which he participated in the past years.

The 20-year-old met in a statement to a SANA sports representative, “He started practicing kickboxing 12 years ago under the influence of his father, who trained him since he was a child and contributed with other coaches of the game in the province to refine his talent until he was able to reach a level that qualifies him to enter the tournaments.

Al-Taqi achieved first places in a number of tournaments, most notably the International Club Open Championship in Jordan last year for the men's category for the semi-contact style and the Republic Championship for the youth category for the years 2017 and 2018, in addition to the various governorate tournaments for different age groups.

Al-Taqi, who holds the black belt 2 Dan, added that he had returned kickboxing training at Al-Bassel Sports Hall in As-Suwayda after his interruption during the last period due to precautionary measures to address the Corona virus, determined to make more efforts to raise his level to represent the Syrian team in international forums.

The presence of Al-Taqi in a sports family, as mentioned by his father Zaher, a member of the Kickboxing Federation, helped him to refine his talent further, indicating that he started training at an early age at the hands of his mother in the game of karate in addition to kickboxing in 2008 and continued with the two games and then specialized in kickboxing because the nature of his body and his strength fit this game more than karate.

Chairman of the Technical Committee for Kickboxing in Al-Suwayda Osama Al-Halabi indicated that Al-Taqi was included as a conservative team player in all categories, leaving his permanent mark through the tournaments he achieved, pointing out that his presence within the ranks of the Sweida team gains confidence for his comrades in the tournaments as he is a player with experience in fighting and distinguished participations, indicating that the future He carries a lot for him as he is at the beginning of his career in the category of men and has great ambition and unrelenting determination.
