The Hong Kong Polytechnic University offers Hong Kong's first Master of Science degree in Medical Physics this academic year, covering professional knowledge in the fields of medical technology, physics and engineering.
The school said today (23rd) that a total of 26 students were enrolled in the first year. Nearly 70% of the students have a bachelor's degree in physics or engineering, and more than 20% are majoring in radiotherapy.

PolyU stated that in the past, Hong Kong and its neighboring regions did not provide advanced degree programs for medical physics. To meet the future demand for medical physicists, the school launched the first master of science degree program in medical physics in Hong Kong this academic year.

Generally speaking, starting from the residency in the hospital, it will take about 4 to 5 years to be recognized by the Hong Kong Medical Physics Society and officially become a medical physicist.
