Syria is participating in the International Resistance Film Festival, in its 16th edition, with the feature film “Dam Al Nakhl,” directed by Najda Ismail Anzour.

The festival, which is held via the Internet, in view of the current conditions in the countries of the world as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, aims to shed light on the spirit of resistance cinema and its role in building a cinematic extension and glorifying the sacrifices of resistance heroes working in various military, health, intellectual, cultural and political fields.

The blood of palm trees, produced by the National Film Organization, narrates the last days of the life of archaeologist Khaled Al-Asaad, director of Palmyra's antiquities, who faced defenseless "ISIS" terrorists and refused to hand them over maps of the archaeological sites in the city.

The film also talks about the ancient life of Palmyra, which suffered from the ravages of war and destruction at the hands of ISIS terrorists and their attempt to steal its antiquities and destroy what they were unable to steal, in addition to talking about the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army in order to purify the city from terrorism and its supporters.

The Director General of the Cinema Foundation, Murad Shaheen, stated in a statement the importance of addressing the Arab street and every honorable and resistant movement or party in the world by spreading the culture of resistance, stressing the need to confront the attempts of coercive forces to control, exploit and dominate the peoples of the region through serious work to spread the culture of resistance and clarify its benefits at the strategic level Especially since the festival is one of the important tools in this field.

What is new in this session of the festival is that it will provide an opportunity to follow the works of its first period for the first time remotely through an electronic platform that is accessed through the festival’s website or special sites or channels inside Iran to view films.

The festival, organized by the Iranian Fateh Cultural Foundation, displays a selection of local and international films that attract cinema lovers from all countries of the region and the world, where the first phase of it is held, part of which was devoted to monitoring the efforts of health workers in the world against the Corona virus in the period from 21 to 27 September Current, while the second period will take place during the month of November next, for a period of one week.
