The Transport Department announced today (23rd) that the bus interchange to the Tseung Kwan O tunnel at the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel Toll Plaza will be opened on the morning of October 2.

The franchised bus companies have a total of 25 bus lines that will stop at the interchange station, including 15 all-day service routes, 4 overnight routes and 6 special routes during peak hours.

When passengers enter Tseung Kwan O in the future, they will be able to enjoy interchange discounts on the second journey when they transfer to designated bus routes at the interchange station.

KMB will have 9 routes passing through the interchange station. Passengers heading to Tseung Kwan O can transfer to other routes of KMB at the interchange station. Most routes are free to interchange, including 98D from Tsim Sha Tsui East. Passengers connect at the interchange station to 98 to Lohas Park , The second journey is free of fare; some other routes can get transfer discounts, and the transfer at the station can save up to 5.1 yuan for the second journey.

The Transport Department stated that the newly completed tunnel interchange station will be equipped with restrooms, waiting covers, seats and displays showing the expected bus arrival time to facilitate passengers transferring.

The Transport Department will closely monitor the operation of the interchange station after its opening with the bus company.

Each bus company will provide additional concessions. Among them, KMB has 9 routes passing through interchange stations, including 98, 98D, 98S, 296A, 296C, 296D, 296P, 297 and 690.

KMB stated that except for route 690, KMB will provide passengers with free interchange discounts on most routes, and some routes will also reward passengers in the form of "make up the difference". The second journey can enjoy a maximum of 5.1 yuan fare Reduction (see the figure below for an example).

On the same day that the tunnel interchange station is opened, the KMB will open a new circular route 98 from Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate to Ngau Tau Kok Station to provide bus services to and from East Kowloon for residents of Lohas Park and office workers in the industrial village.

KMB's new route 98 will depart from the Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate Bus Terminus and will pass through Lohas Park, Pak Shing Kok, Clear Water Bay Peninsula, Kwun Tong and Ngau Tau Kok.

The service is provided for 6 nights and 12 every day, and the total fare is 7.2 yuan.

Passengers on Route 98 can also interchange at Kwun Tong Road to transfer more than 50 KMB routes to other destinations at a discount.
