The areas planned to be cultivated with wheat and barley crops for the winter season 2020-2021 in Al-Hasakah Governorate amounted to 1.22 million hectares distributed over the various areas of agricultural stability in the governorate.

The Director of Agriculture, Eng. Rajab Salameh, stated in a statement to the SANA correspondent that the area planned to be cultivated with rain-fed wheat amounted to 443228 hectares, irrigated wheat 301,293 hectares, and Baal barley 333,380 hectares and irrigated barley 24,331 hectares, stressing that as a result of the improvement of water reserves in the governorate's dams, 3 thousand hectares of irrigated wheat have been increased from the plan last year.

Engineer Salama pointed out that the technicians assigned to grant agricultural organization to farmers who wish to cultivate the two crops at the level of agricultural departments scattered in the governorate and distribute volumes and duly numbered planning documents to begin distributing them to farmers soon, noting that the cultivation of the two crops usually begins in the middle of next month.

It is noteworthy that the directorate has also determined a plan to cultivate food legumes for the winter season with an area of ​​10 089 hectares in Baal and Meroe.
