After the first models based on the Twin Turbo Furious and the Epic X Chrono, Jacob & Co. and Bugatti present this time a piece as unique as the most unique of racing cars, the most expensive racing car in the world, The Black Car.

An obscure timepiece, this time called La Montre Noire, and priced at one million dollars (around 860,000 euros).

This supposes first of all to know the myth of this Bugatti racing car, once disappeared: the Type 57 SC Atlantic Coupé, a creation of the 1930s, is considered a masterpiece of automotive design, like the Type 41s. or Royale.

Only four Type 57s were reportedly made, including a black version.

Legend has it that it disappeared around 1940, when Bugatti shipped its cars and merchandise from Molsheim, France, to its secondary factory in Bordeaux to protect them from the advancing Nazis.

In 2019, to pay tribute to him, Bugatti therefore created The Black Car, a dark racing car offered at more than 11 million euros (excluding taxes): the most expensive car in the world!

Such an extreme horological creation was needed to echo it.

And this one is triply.

First, by its price.

Then by its setting: the literally black 18-carat gold of its case is set with baguette-cut black sapphires.

An invisible setting of 344 natural stones.

Finally, it is because of its technical specificities that this Black Watch is just as exceptional: its forged carbon case, with a titanium core, alone comprises 88 components, a sign of its complexity, while its large movement. complication consists of no less than 832 parts.

Extreme minute repeater, this Twin Turbo Furious Bugatti La Montre Noire chimes on demand at ten-minute intervals after the hours and before the minutes: a decimal repeater very rarely encountered in fine watchmaking.

The power reserve is displayed on the dial side at six o'clock.

Thanks to an ingenious planetary system comprising a differential gear mechanism, the hand indicates a full power reserve to the left, then moves to the right as the 48-hour reserve ends.

This piece of extreme horology also incorporates two triple-axis tourbillons, working together to compensate for the effects of gravity on the precision of the movement.

This watch is wound via the crank placed on the crown at three o'clock.

As a tribute to a racing car, this unique piece also offers a monopusher chronograph function, with a “reference time” indicator inspired by pit boards in motor racing.

The reference time display in the center of the dial indicates the difference in seconds from a reference time.
