The CSU parliamentary group in the Murnau municipal council raises serious allegations.

"The forest of the market town of Murnau was not managed sustainably and in parts was very heavily overused," says an application by the Christian Socialists.

The town hall administration rejects the allegations.

  • The CSU parliamentary group in the Murnau municipal council expresses massive criticism.

  • She complains that the community forest is not managed sustainably.

  • The town hall rejects the allegations.

Murnau

- The approximately 120 hectares of forest belonging to Markt Murnau are looked after by the state forestry office.

"Sustainable management is the top priority here, because it is the best option for a sustainable forest," reported the town hall.

Demands of the CSU

The CSU parliamentary group in the municipal council has now submitted an application that has it all.

It says: “The forest in the market town of Murnau was not managed sustainably and parts of it were heavily overused.

The forest report, which serves as the basis for the management, was obviously ignored. ”The CSU parliamentary group therefore demands an immediate stop to all measures that do not serve forest protection or traffic safety.

"At the same time, we are demanding an explanation of the measures that have not been implemented and of the additional uses that cannot be explained solely by incidents of calamity." The CSU parliamentary group sees deficiencies in the Galthütte district in particular.

This "was plundered".

The parliamentary group spokesman Rudolf Utzschneider sent the email with the application.

Beuting rejects the allegations

Mayor Rolf Beuting (ÖDP / Bürgerforum) rejects the allegations: "The very polemical allegations are not tenable, the demands do not correspond to practice." Reports of logging and sales as the basis of their bitter allegations.

In the report from 2009, the aim was “a sustainable annual rate of 181 solid meters for the entire area of the Murnau community forest”.

“For the years 2010 to 2019 this results in a total of 1810 solid meters.

The amount actually hammered in the period 2010 - 2019 is 2950 solid cubic meters.

More than 160 percent of the plan for sustainable management was thus implemented, ”complain the Christian Socialists.

Town hall: storms cannot be foreseen

Nina Herweck-Bockhorni, deputy manager of the Murnau town hall, explains that the strong wind thrown from the storm "Niklas" in 2015 and the bark beetle infestation could not be foreseen and therefore led to higher volumes of impact.

"After 2015, apart from the storm, the bark beetle infestation or for reasons of traffic safety, no additional cutting measures were carried out." With regard to the Galthütte area, Herweck-Bockhorni points out that there have been no cutting measures since 2015.

“This area was particularly affected by the storm.” Reforestation measures are already being planned.

The town hall thus contradicts the CSU parliamentary group, which had declared: "The common practice of sustainable management, to stop use after damaging events, was ignored for the Galthütte district."

CSU criticism: measures not implemented

The CSU parliamentary group has even more to criticize: “At the same time, numerous measures specified in the report were not implemented for a large number of districts that were supposed to deliver a total of 261 solid meters.

No wood was felled here. "

Expert opinion for 20 years

Herweck-Bockhorni explains: “Maintenance measures were carried out throughout the forest.

However, for forestry reasons after the heavy storm in 2015 and the bark beetle infestation, these were adapted to the changed situation. "The forest management reports are drawn up for 20 years -" knowing that unforeseeable events can always make the implementation of the specific objectives of the reports impossible ".

Therefore, an interim report by the State Forestry Office takes place every ten years.

"This is currently being prepared and should be available by the end of the year," announced Herweck-Bockhorni.
