One of the two victims first received a slap before being pinned to the ground on the tram platform, specifies France Bleu.
Trying to intervene, her friend was pushed back by the individual and taken by the throat.
She was also reportedly slightly injured in the knee.
The alleged author was arrested by the Grenoble police less than 15 minutes after the incident.
This attack echoes that committed last Friday in Strasbourg against a 22-year-old student who was punched in the face on the grounds that she was also wearing a skirt.
On this case the former Secretary of State in charge of equality between men and women Marlène Schiappa recalled that
"the skirt is not responsible for aggression, and women even less".
