Shakour explained that Syria welcomes the reform efforts of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, specifically those related to the methodological inference to demonstrate the links between the intangible cultural heritage and the sustainable development goals, with an emphasis on the awareness-raising approach of the richness and value of these links.

She praised the Global Program for Capacity Building for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which took its foundations in the education sectors, calling for encouraging the continuation of the Convention Secretariat's work within its framework, with the aim of improving the process of listing on the lists of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Shakour also noted the rapid and effective response of the Convention Secretariat to support national efforts in Syria to address the repercussions of the spread of the Coronavirus, noting the Syrian government's support for the efforts of the countries of the world to confront this epidemic and its catastrophic consequences.

She pointed out that the cooperation between UNESCO and the Secretariat of the Agreement with the Syrian Ministry of Culture and local community organizations resulted in a quantum leap and tremendous steps to increase awareness of individuals and communities of the importance and pivotal importance of preserving and preserving living heritage, as well as establishing local, national and international partnerships in this regard.
