Since March, restaurateurs have suffered many blows.

It started with a sudden closure somewhere in March, continued with an intermittent closure and opening depending on the illness and last week also came the ban on self-collection.

Now, a day before the impending closure, which is also not clear at this time whether they should open up any more, there has been some good news from the shipping industry.

The shipping company "Walt", one of the two largest companies operating in the central region, mainly in Tel Aviv but also in the cities bordering it, reached an agreement with the restaurant representatives as part of which the company will reduce its shipping fee to 22% throughout the closure period.

The commission subsidy, which came with the help of Bank Hapoalim, went into effect starting tomorrow (Friday).

At the same time and in order to encourage orders from restaurants and support the industry's activity during the closure period, Bank Hapoalim will provide a benefit to its private customers for ordering delivery through the company's application in the amount of NIS 30 per customer, until stocks run out.

"We are pleased that the dialogue with Walt has led them to significantly reduce the shipping fee they charge from restaurants to 22% for the closure period," said Tomer Moore, CEO of "Strong Restaurants Together." The intense dialogue between the association and Walt has proven itself and we note another important step. Unparalleled in our overall struggle for restaurateurs especially in this period.

"We should commend Walt CEO Emery Galai for showing leadership and financial courage. We expect the Tan Biss company to make an affidavit of a similar reduction as Walt did even before Yom Kippur."

In recent days, quite a few restaurateurs from the two leading shipping companies, Walt and Let Bite, have demanded a reduction in the commission they charge in light of the complex period they are in and the many financial losses that are expected in the near future.

The restaurateurs expected solidarity and cooperation from the companies and it seems that for now, at least one of them, has also won it.

Emri Galai, CEO of Walt Israel, said: "It is clear to everyone that restaurants cannot exist from deliveries alone, and now the announcement of the closure without assistance to the industry will be a fatal blow for them. The restaurateurs are our partners, Comprehensive assistance that included, among other things, a personal grant for each restaurant up to NIS 10,000, we canceled the self-collection fees and absorbed the clearing costs of credit to encourage takeaway orders, and today we stand by them again, and together with Bank Hapoalim go out in an unprecedented The closure is 22%. We thank Bank Hapoalim for their cooperation with us, which once again proves that it works for small businesses in Israel. "

Earlier this morning we spoke with a restaurant from the Jerusalem area, which provided some background on the issue of commissions.

"I preferred to set up an independent delivery system," said the same restaurateur who chose to remain anonymous.

"I paid 'tuition' at first and lost quite a bit of money, but the commission that companies charge knowing that a lot of restaurateurs depend on it does not make sense, we are not captives. Now that I have independent deliveries it's not that I earn too much, I remember that I exist, and it is not obvious at this time. "

"Restaurateurs also barely make a profit in the first two years," he continued.

"We try to survive every day and barely manage while the pressure of money also provide a good service experience to visitors, when possible, and to those who order delivery, then we are forced to either pay 30% commission to a shipping company or give up completely? Lucky it paid off for me to absorb the damage "But I'm afraid to think what would have happened if it had failed."
