The “Quatuor Ardeo” concert was the first since the outbreak of the corona pandemic that could take place in the hall again.

The string quartet No. 2 op. 9 (2011/13) IXXU by the contemporary composer Thomas Larcher impresses the audience of the Klangwelt Klassik cycle with a restless, chaotic listening experience.
The four musicians master the modern piece on the stage of the Rainer-Maria-Rilke-Gymnasium in Icking with precision and concentration.
Unusual playing techniques are used again and again, such as playing the sides of the string instruments with the wood of the bows.
Often the mood is determined by a diffuse soundscape created by counter-rotating scales.
"Larcher actually wanted to attend the performance today, but he was unable to do so because of a recording," explains violist Yuko Hara before the piece begins.
She and her colleagues Carole Petitdemange, Mi-sa Yang and Joëlle Martinez are personally acquainted with the Austrian composer.

Yuko Hara also comments on the Corona crisis, which hits many artists hard: "We received a lot of rejections this year and are therefore very grateful that today's concert can take place." The chamber musicians have made a name for themselves internationally in recent years made and have received numerous awards.
So that appearances are currently possible, organizers, artists and visitors must adhere to a few rules.
“We measured the distance between the chairs to the centimeter, and there is only a limited number of tickets,” explains Birgitta Bohn, program designer at Klangwelt Klassik.
All those involved are only allowed to remove their mouth and nose protection when they are seated.
The appearances of the “Quatuor Ardeo” are the first concerts in the cycle when the pandemic breaks out, which are taking place “indoors” again, reports the club's chairwoman Bettina Gaebel.
Every year the association brings renowned musicians to Icking under the title “Master Soloists in the Isar Valley”.

The fact that the quartet's program began with the musical home of France - in the truest sense of the word - classic: The string quartet No. 18 in A major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart enchanted the audience with playful themes.
Regardless of whether the motifs sound in unison or imitative, the four women seemingly effortlessly made music in perfect harmony.
Major or minor, piano or fortissimo, the transitions are as light as a feather.

Franz Schubert's string quartet in D minor with the name “Death and the Maiden” finally rounds off the concert evening.
The art song of the same name, which the composer wrote a few years earlier, is varied in the second movement of the work.

While he is composing the quartet, he is seriously ill.
After the “Quatuor Ardeo” has already performed works from the classical and modern periods, the chamber musicians are dedicating themselves to Schubert, a composer of the early Romantic period.
The artists show great versatility and are rewarded with thunderous applause and a few shouts of bravo.
