The two defendants, who reside in Orly, were tried in immediate appearance for

"violence resulting in a temporary interruption of work of less than eight days committed in a meeting in a means of transport and with premeditation"

, indicated the prosecution of Créteil to the AFP.

None had a criminal record, but one of them was placed under judicial supervision as part of an investigation for violence in a means of transport in 2017, said the prosecution.

"Context of clashes between gangs"

Identified thanks to the video surveillance of the bus and DNA traces, they had been arrested and placed in police custody on Tuesday.

"They recognize the facts, they explain that this attack is part of a context of clashes between gangs,"

said the prosecution.

“They thought they had recognized a young man from Villeneuve-le-Roi with whom they were in conflict.

One of the two defendants also explained that he had been beaten several times by young people from Villeneuve-le-Roi and that they wanted revenge. "

When the 17-year-old victim said she was from another commune, they stopped beating her, got off the bus and fled.

The attack was committed on September 3 aboard a bus connecting Villeneuve-le-Roi to Villeneuve-Saint-Georges.

A rumor about a possible kidnapping committed during the assault was finally denied by the prosecution.
