The teacher is suspected of harassing 11-year-old Evaëlle, who ended her life last year. In front of the Isabelle-Autissi college

The news did not surprise many people at the Isabelle-Autissier college in Herblay (Val-d'Oise).

A professor suspected of having harassed a schoolgirl there was indicted on September 4.

The investigation follows the suicide of Evaëlle, 11, in June 2019 after several months of bullying at school.

The young girl had implicated several students, but also this teacher.

However, the national education services had not suspended her, including after her police custody, in November 2019. Her judicial review now prohibits her from teaching.

“I find it very good that she was indicted.

What I find unfortunate is that it didn't happen sooner, ”reacts Benoît, who has come to pick up his son at lunchtime.

Like many parents, he is aware of what Evaëlle went through.

Her son knew her.

He also recalls that students harassed the schoolgirl.

His son, too, encountered difficulties with certain comrades.

“For us, that was immediately taken into account,” he adds.

After Evaëlle passed away, another principal was put in place, but he did not stay this year.

"I do not find it normal that she remained teaching"

Véronique, mother of a college student, gives the same testimony.

“My son had problems last year.

When I learned that, I went to see the director and in an hour it was settled, ”she emphasizes.

She is also satisfied with the indictment of the professor.

“It's a good thing,” she says.

I do not find it normal that she remained teaching.

"

“We should also be interested in the students and not focus only on the teacher, judge Virginie, another parent of a student.

I think the passage to the act is mainly due to them.

Most have left the establishment, but they never had to answer for their harassment vis-à-vis Evaëlle before a disciplinary board.

"The problem is that she made a lot of differences between her students"

Among the students, several of those who knew this teacher congratulate themselves on what is happening to her.

“She was a bad teacher.

She was always belittling the students, ”said one of them.

“The problem is that she made a lot of differences between her students,” observes a schoolgirl.

“Those she didn't like, she belittled them,” adds another.

Julien, he was surprised by the indictment.

“I didn't think it was possible,” he says.

"It's a very good thing that she was indicted at the start of the school year and that she was not given other classes", reacts Christina, member of the Parents' Association of the town. d'Herblay (Apech).

She points out that her behavior continued to be a problem after Evaëlle's death.

“There were two students who did not want to return to class with her last year and they did not return,” she says.

Dominique Oudot, co-secretary of the teaching union Snes-FSU indicates that he cannot comment on the indictment while the investigation is still ongoing.

“The issue of harassment, on the other hand, is very serious and very worrying.

We have to put the problem in a global way.

The institution must put in the resources, ”he emphasizes.

After the announcement of her indictment, the Academy of Versailles issued a press release in which she again declares "not to want to comment on the current procedure.
