A Supreme Court judge dies and must be replaced.
She was an old lady, from the Jewish bourgeoisie of the East Coast, a tireless activist for the rights of women and minorities: a progressive icon.
Donald Trump, who has appointing power over the members of the Supreme Court, is quick to announce that he will replace her as soon as possible.
Democrats are protesting and asking that the appointment be delayed after the presidential election next November.
Four years ago, the same situation presented itself, but with reversed fronts.
