The Vietnam police confiscated about 345,000 used condoms, which were cleaned and resold as new.

This was reported by Reuters with reports from state media.

According to the agency, this week Vietnam state television VTV aired images showing dozens of large bags containing used condoms.

The bags were strewn across the floor of a warehouse in southern Binh Duong province, Reuters said.

According to police, the bags weighed more than 360 kilograms, which is equivalent to 345,000 condoms, Reuters said with information from VTV.

The store owner reported that they received a "monthly income of used condoms from an unknown person," according to the state-run Tuoi Tre newspaper, cited by Reuters.

The agency report added that a woman detained in the raid told police that the condoms were first boiled in water, then dried and molded into a wooden phallus before being repackaged and resold.

VTV said it's unclear how many of the recycled condoms were sold, Reuters reported.

The detained woman said she had received 17 cents for every kilogram of reused condoms she produced.

Neither she nor the store owner were available for comment, Reuters said.
