On Twitter, Lionnel Luca, the municipal councilor of Villeneuve-Loubet, suggested that citizens go and occupy restaurants and bars "to prevent the closure".

The rumble continues.

The strengthening of health restrictions announced on Wednesday September 23 by the government put a number of elected officials on the back burner.

The latter criticize the closure of bars from 10pm in "enhanced alert zones" and the total closure of restaurants and bars in "maximum alert zones", as in the Marseille metropolis or in Guadeloupe.

Lionnel Luca, the LR mayor of Villeneuve-Loubet (Alpes-Maritimes), - the department is classified as a "reinforced alert zone" - is one of the virulent opponents.

On Twitter, he even called Wednesday evening for

“civil and peaceful disobedience”

.

The city will oppose "by all means"

"It is up to citizens to go and support the cafetiers and restaurateurs by occupying the premises to be served and prevent the closure of establishments!",

He claimed, thus positioning himself as the first city councilor to call for

"disobedience "

.

The elected Republicans, former deputy and figure of the right of the South-East, is used to controversial statements.

In 2010, he attacked women wearing the burqa, claiming that

"those who want to wear it are free to take a direct flight to Kabul or Peshawar"

.

In a motion presented by the mayor, and voted unanimously by the City Council, he assures us that his city "will

oppose by all the means at its disposal any arbitrary measures which would call into question the free enterprise"

of the cafetiers and restaurateurs.

If they do not go as far as their sulphurous counterpart, Marseille's elected officials also denounce the government's measures.

Renaud Muselier, LR president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, announced that he would file a legal action against the closing of restaurants and bars in the Marseille metropolis on Friday.

“It is not a solution to close bars and restaurants.

There is a lack of means, we are all stressed, we are all anxious, but we do not want the Covid to kill people and businesses, ”

also denounced Martine Vassal, LR president of the Bouches-du-Rhône department, on Friday morning during the event of restaurateurs.
