Nezar Mickaël Pastor Alwatik, prosecuted alongside 13 other people for his alleged logistical support to the perpetrators of the attacks which killed 17 people, was taken Friday morning from his cell at the Fleury-Mérogis remand center and was present in the box to attend the debates.

In a message sent Thursday evening to defense lawyers and civil parties, of which AFP was aware, the president of the court had indicated that "

the results of the Covid screening

" authorized "

the resumption of the hearing without health risk

".

But uncertainty remained about the actual presence of the accused at the hearing, necessary for the resumption of the proceedings, the doctor who examined him could not assure whether his state of health was compatible with his appearance, according to a source close to the folder.

"

He is better than yesterday (Thursday) but he continues to vomit

" and has "

hypoglycemia

", indicated the lawyers of Pastor Alwatik, Mes Marie Dosé and Guillaume Arnaud, before the resumption of the hearing.

If, however, the accused's state of health declines during the day, his counsel have indicated that they would request a new suspension.

Nezar Mickaël Pastor Alwatik appeared ill at the opening of the debates on Thursday morning.

According to Me Dosé, he presented symptoms considered worrying "

in view of the pandemic

" of coronavirus.

This situation had led President Régis de Jorna to suspend the hearing, first for two hours, then until Friday morning, until the accused was subjected to a battery of tests, including that of the Covid, according to a accelerated process.

The debates resumed Friday morning with the hearing of an investigator from the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI), interrupted Thursday, and with the viewing of the video of Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (Aqpa) who claimed the attack on Charlie Hebdo.

It must continue in the afternoon with the hearings of the ex-wives of the brothers Chérif and Saïd Kouachi, authors with Amedy Coulibaly of the attacks of January 7, 8 and 9, 2015.

The hearings of Peter Cherif, key witness in the trial, and Farid Benyettou, a former preacher once close to the Kouachi brothers, initially scheduled for Thursday afternoon, have been postponed to an undetermined date.
