A third-level fire broke out at Wing Shui House, Lek Yuen Estate, Sha Tin yesterday (24th), causing 1 death and 5 injuries.
A 37-year-old man from the fire unit died. The deceased suffered from depression and mania for 8 years. Before the incident, he injured his grandmother with a cooking wok. Afterwards, the neighbor heard the sound of knocking wood and glass.
When the neighbourhood of the same building went home yesterday afternoon, he witnessed the deceased’s grandmother in the lobby asking for help. A fire broke out soon after.
Granny Tan, who lives on the 8th floor of Rongrui Building, said that when she returned home yesterday, she saw the 94-year-old grandmother of the deceased in the lobby asking for help.
Granny Tan described that the old woman had drenched hair, had eggshells on her head, injured her feet, and was wearing only one slippers. She often slapped her grandson and called the police.
Granny Tan pointed out that the security called the white cart to the scene. Soon after boarding the white cart, the old woman rushed down the stairs and shouted: "Fire candle!" After hearing the words, Granny Tan walked out of the ground lobby and looked up to the fifth floor of the building. Heavy smoke came out of the location, and then an old woman crawled out of the window and sat on the clothes rack to help her. Tan Yishu shouted at the time: "You are so sad, the fire is tight."
