No shaking at the secondary school location

The new secondary school in the southeast of the district will be built at the Erich-Kästner-Schule - or not at all.

At least not in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn.

This becomes apparent after a battle vote in the local council.

Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn - With 12:11 votes, the council members prevailed, rejecting any further discussion about the school location and not wanting to question the resolution of February 2019.

At that time, a majority had voted for the location on Brunnthaler Strasse next to the elementary and middle school.

The school administration favors a location directly at the grammar school for reasons of cost and the proximity to the train station.

The opponents of such a school campus at the train station argue with the impending traffic collapse in the Bahnhofstrasse / Bahnhofsplatz area.

The fact that traffic could increase significantly there was confirmed by a study presented at the meeting.

Before the vote, the municipal administration had also shown how different planning and location options affect the municipality financially.

For example, they have to provide the property free of charge when building the secondary school.

The calculation also included costs for the expansion of the grammar school and for a new gymnasium at the Erich-Kästner-Schule.

Depending on where the secondary school is being built, there are synergies that are relevant for a comparison of costs.

The administration calculated budgets that may differ from the real costs, as Mayor Mindy Konwitschny (SPD) emphasized.

Her main concern was useful comparative values.

It was also calculated how much the community has to pay if the secondary school in Hohenbrunn is built.

This is the most cost-effective solution with a total budget of up to 25 million euros.

The community would have to dig up to five million more in their pockets if the secondary school in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn is built - regardless of the location.

Martha Wachinger (CSU) and Anita Reiprich (SPD) then also refused to reopen the location debate.

"Are we a little flag in the wind that turns with every movement?" Asked Reiprich.

Karsten Voges (Greens), Manfred Eberhard (UB) and Rupert Franke (SPD) wanted to revoke the old decision in view of “many new findings”.

But they did not have a majority behind them.
