After the knife attack near the former office of the satirical newspaper "Charlie Hebdo", politicians in France and the rest of Europe reacted in horror.

Castex confirmed that the two victims are journalists.

They are "not in mortal danger".

He called the crime scene a "symbolic place".

The editorial team of "Charlie Hebdo" also responded: "The entire Charlie team supports its former neighbors and colleagues and is in solidarity with them."

EU Council President Charles Michel also expressed his condolences.

All my thoughts are with the victims of this cowardly act of violence, "wrote Michel on Twitter. His solidarity goes to the French people." Terror has no place on European soil. "
