Saudi Arabia, led by Muhammad bin Salman, has been working behind the scenes to urge the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to sign an agreement to normalize relations with Israel, the Guardian reported this morning (Friday).

According to a report in the British newspaper, a few months ago the regent presented his rationale for agreements that would shift the balance of power against Iran in the long run.

As part of this, fighter jets were offered, better access to the Trump administration and other benefits.

However, it is assumed that the Saudi prince will not enter into an official agreement with Israel before the US presidential election.

This is according to three sources close to the royal family in Riyadh who spoke with the Guardian.

Instead, it was reported that Saudi Arabia may continue to push regional allies to move toward agreements with Israel, with the two favorite countries for normalization being Sudan and Oman.

As you may recall, 84-year-old King Salman still adheres to the formula of the Arab Peace Initiative, according to which Israel must first reach a peace agreement with the Palestinians based on a two-state solution, and only then move forward with agreements with the countries of the region.

The heir, as already reported in the Wall Street Journal, sees things differently.

According to two sources who became aware of his position and spoke with the Guardian, he has been heavily influenced by US adviser Jared Kushner since the two first met in 2017.

One Saudi source told the British newspaper that Kushner spoke in terms of a deal just like President Donald Trump.

According to the same source, it was a language that Muhammad bin Salman understood.

Therefore, for a short time, the prince tried to lead a change in the Saudi position regarding Lebanon and the Palestinians.

According to the report, later in 2017, Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen met with Saudi Crown Prince Riyadh, where he was presented with a new map of the Palestinian state that Saudi Arabia would approve. Abu Mazen did not speak publicly about the meeting, but Palestinian officials said the plan was similar to a map The peace of the Trump administration, known as the "deal of the century."

A Palestinian source said that "the regent said that Palestine could include the Gaza Strip with part of the Sinai Peninsula and a bridge to what would remain of the West Bank (after applying Israeli sovereignty over the territories in Judea and Samaria; SQ)."

The source added that "the Egyptian president, 'Abd al-Fatah al-Sisi, was involved in this, of course."

According to him, the prince had no right to hand over part of Egypt without consent.
